Creating ease in the procurement of inventory for retailers

FEATURE FOR CUSTOMER APP

OVERVIEW

Customers were complaining about the unavailability of different variants of the products that were already up for buying on the app.

We discovered that our customers, to a significant degree, depend more heavily on the visual aspects of the SKU’s to identify them. They often use the images attached to the SKU’s as a primary method of differentiating one product from another. This is as opposed to making distinctions based solely on the basis of the SKU labels.

This finding suggests that the visual representation of our products plays a more substantial role in customer perception and recognition than we may have previously understood.

MY ROLE

Designing the feature end-to-end, working closely with engineering and business to achieve our key success metrics.

FEATURE FOR CUSTOMER APP

IDEATING AND PLANNING

Picked up some major pain points for the retailers and started solving.

  1. Most retailers do not like reading text that is not emphasised enough.

  1. Retailers react to images instantly.

  1. Price matters alot.

  1. It all helps the retailers to differentiate between products and variants.

IDEATING AND PLANNING

Decided to Introduce Grid View in our product listing.

  1. Prominent and clear product images.

  1. Emphasis on pricing and discounts.

USER TESTING

Grid view turns out to be a blessing for them.

  1. Users immediately started recognising products and variants through images.

  1. Prices were more emphasised and discounts were prominent.

  1. Dependency on text reduced by 60%.

KEY LEARNING

The entire experience was truly enlightening, with numerous learning moments. However, one key takeaway stood out for me:

The optimal experience for the retailers we serve at Bazaar is one that mirrors their traditional inventory procurement methods. Once we can replicate this experience, the next step is to enhance it.
